A we-miss-you note

Customers who drifted away often just forgot; a friendly note with a reason to return brings some back.

Steps

  1. From your own records, list the customers who agreed to hear from you and have not been in for three months.
  2. Send one short, warm note with a simple thank-you offer and an end date.
  3. Do not send a second note to people who do not come.
  4. Ask returning customers what kept them away.

What to count

Customers who come back within 30 days of the note.

Keep it clean

Marketing email must follow the CAN-SPAM Act. Its main rules: accurate From, Reply-To and routing details; a subject line that does not mislead; a message that says it is an ad (unless the person agreed beforehand to get it); your physical postal address; and a working way to opt out that you honor within 10 business days. The FTC guide lists every requirement.
