Swap cards with the business next door

Team up with a nearby business that sells something different: each of you hands out the other's thank-you card.

Steps

Pick a neighbor whose customers could use you too: bakery and florist, barber and coffee shop, bike shop and cafe.
Agree on a small, equal thank-you each side gives (a free add-on, a size up) and an end date.
Print a card for each other with both names and the offer, and keep a stack by each register.
Collect the cards when they come back so each of you can count them.

Partner cards handed back at your counter.

Take an old item in for credit toward a new one, and pass the old ones to a local cause.

Regulars are your best advertising; give them a simple way to bring someone along.

Give a stated share of one day's sales to a local cause and invite its supporters in.
